To whom It may concern:
I am a third-year computer science student at The City College of New York (CCNY). I found out about this software engineering intern position at Google through indeed.com. I am willing to apply to this position because I heard this is a great place to work and learn. Along with knowledge of the programming languages of Python and C++, I have excellent communication skills, I am a reliable and critical thinker.
My experiences as a teacher and team player have taught me a lot. I have been working in an elementary public school for three years as a table tennis instructor. As a teacher, I have been able to develop and polish my costumer support skills, and I have had my patience tried. Being part of the national table tennis team from the Dominican Republic, it had taught me the importance of teamwork in all different areas. Last summer, I had my first experience as a research intern. I was part of the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) summer program 2019 at Princeton University where I worked in the Applied and Computational Mathematics department with Prof. Singer. My project was based on the 3D reconstruction of biological specimens and macromolecules. I used the programming platform MATLAB and the software RELION to obtain the 3D structure of the particles. Furthermore, my first Hackathon experience was at Lehman College with the program teachcreateher where my team took third place out of twelve teams at the competition. We created the website “Exercise and Win” which was centered on local problems of obesity. These experiences taught me how to be patient and develop skills and leadership roles.
I would like to meet you to further explain my qualifications. I am available from Mondays – Fridays after 3:00 pm except on Wednesdays. You can reach me at [email protected] or 646-707-7037. I would do this internship for free. You are Google! I attached my resume for your review. Look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Yasiris Ortiz
